How To Target Your Career With Confidence

Are you ready to target your dream career? Then it’s time for you to define what you want in life. Take a closer look at your aptitudes, knowledge, and philosophies. By breaking down what you enjoy doing, it will help clarify the mystery of your ideal career.

Twenty plus years in the staffing industry has led me into the coaching industry. How? By identifying what I am good at, and that’s dealing with people and knowing how to guide and make recommendations to improve people's lives. I always found myself reading self-help books, personal development books and attending weekly Toastmasters meetings. I realized that to do what I love, I had to continue working closely with people, and now I share what I have experienced and learned and share the knowledge. Professionally, I can communicate and apply my people skills to help my clients identify their career and how to go about making career changes with ease and confidence.

Let’s take a look at what you can do to get started. Below you will find a set of questions that will help you identify what you are good at and possibly turning it into a career.

Identifying questions:

1. What do you do that makes you lose track of time? Make a list.

2. What types of events do you spend money on?

3. Where do you fear judgment? Art, Music, Poetry, if you do, that means you care about it.

4. What makes your heart race? What excites you?

After you identify what you are good at and what makes your heart race, then it’s time to start working towards your goal. Remember, do a little bit each day to move closer to your desired goal. If you love working with numbers, and you are working as a paralegal you are not going to be happy. Find a career that deals with numbers and you will rise to the top. Find what you love, find what you are good at and start doing it.

In summary, it sounds simple, but I understand how hard it is to find something that you enjoy doing. When you do it, it’ll be all worth it at the end. Besides, when you are happy, you make better decisions, better plans and above all, you get better results. So choose to be happy and find the career that best suits you and your world.
